Writing a play or novel and need an outside perspective? I’ll work with you as a developmental editor, dramaturg, or beta reader– the person who will help make sure that the story that ends up on the page is the story you want to tell.
In this role, I do not focus on copyediting and proofreading, but on overall story, character, and narrative structure.
I’m happy to offer prices in USD, just send an email!
about me
I hold an MFA in Dramaturgy from Columbia University with a focus on new play development, as well as a PhD in English Literature from King’s College London in collaboration with Shakespeare’s Globe. I have worked as a research dramaturg for directors and companies in the US and the UK, including at the Globe. I have also informally edited narrative fiction for friends and colleagues, and in addition to extensive experience providing feedback in both peer workshop and educational settings.
getting-to-know you rate
For every new client or project, we will begin with a partial edit to ensure that I am a good fit for the material and, if we’ve never worked together before, that you find my feedback useful and productive. This rate includes a half hour meeting (or equivalent via email if preferred). We will discuss feedback pace and style, general goals for the project, and ensure that we’ll be happy working together before moving forward with a full edit.
Length: Varies depending on total length of project.
Cost: £45 (goes towards total cost if we move forward)

next steps
Where we go next depends on what you’re working on! Details are illustrative: every process will be tailored to your plans and specific developmental needs, including whether you prefer written or in-person feedback. Very long projects may incur an additional cost.
